French to English translation

I was born in Great Britain and have been a French to English translator living in France for more than 35 years. I am at your disposal to provide French to English translation of your content, no matter what shape or form it may take:

For your technical translations, choose a highly experienced, independent French to English translator. Your content is received, processed and returned to you by e-mail, or via the platform of your choice: WeTransfer, DropBox, etc.

I use the latest Computer-Assisted Translation tools such as SDL Trados Studio, MemoQ, MemoSource, etc. These software products not only guarantee consistent use of your terminology, among other advantages they also accelerate the translation process and save money by identifying and automatically copying sentences that have already been translated.

Proof-reading

I also carry out proof-reading of translations performed by customers (and incidentally, in order to proof-read a translation the original text must be available). Proof-reading is of course part and parcel of the standard process followed by a professional translator but it is particularly valuable when carried out by a third party, looking at the text with a fresh pair of eyes. In addition to carrying out the basic verifications (spelling, grammar) the proof-reader must have a good understanding of the subject, to weed out any mistranslations or ambiguities. Style is another important aspect to take into account, to match the target audience. In the end the ultimate test of a good translation is that the reader should not realise it is a translation.

Post-editing

What is post-editing? This neologism refers to human proof-reading and correction of a machine translation executed by a software. It’s a great way to process large volumes very quickly, but the final result is not comparable to a human translation. Post-editing provides a solution when the quality of the translation is not the primary concern (yes that can happen sometimes!), and speed is of the essence, e.g. for internal memos or announcements in large corporations or administrations.
This method is becoming increasingly popular, and it is a service that AT Traductions regularly provides to its customers.
